Learn the Benefits of Coaching

Studies on executive coaching clearly shows the personal, strategic, economic, and employee impact of using executive coaches in all organizations, regardless of size.

A recent article by Jeffrey E. Auerbach, a coach at the College of Executive Coaching, points out that usage of coaches in the U.K. is outstripping the U.S.  Almost 78% of surveyed companies in the U.K. had experience using a coach vs. only 58% of their counterparts in the U.S.1  This might be due to the more “advisory” approach to education in universities in the U.K., vs the U.S. which focuses on individual effort.

Regardless of the reason for the difference in cultures, there are a myriad of reasons why companies should consider using executive coaches for their leaders.  The top seven reasons companies use coaches are to improve productivity and quality, strengthening the organization, improving customer service, reducing customer complaints, retaining executives, creating cost reductions, and improving bottom-line profitability.  These benefits have been verified in several studies conducted by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) in the last few years.

Yet despite all of the published benefits and the use of coaches by 40% of Fortune 500 companies, many companies still refuse to use coaches or are unaware of the benefits. 2   So, creative and forward-thinking coaching organizations should be willing to offer “newbies” to executive coaching an initial discount or reduced fee to help them try out coaching.  And companies trying out executive coaching for the first time need to know how to use them well (see my article on this here.)

Why let your competitors in the market have this advantage over you?  The benefits are well worth the risk of trying!
